The Justice Question from "The Fisherman and the Jinnee"

I'm very interested to hear your thoughts!!  : -)
 Do you agree with the way the fisherman treated the jinnee?  What philosophy does he go with, "Do unto others" or "An eye for an eye"?  What would you have done in his situation?  Do you think the jinnee deserved his fate?  Explain.
 Lindsey Duda- No, I do not think the fisherman was treating the jinnee right.  The Fisherman went with, "Do unto others" rather than "An eye for an eye" I believe because of going be facing killing the jinnee.  In this situation still would of been fair handling it the way it had been done.  Yes, the jinnee does deserve his fate the way jinnee was acting with the situation of the fisherman.

Podetron: A little meditation on irony from Ms. Alanis Morissette. Takin’ it back to the 90s. What do you think—considering the definition of irony, ironic or not? I will upload the lyrics as well so you can do a true analysis.

Lindsey- No this does not seem ironic. It does not show the full effect of what the meaning irony is. The true definition contradicts expectations of the charachers. It has a difference between appearance and reality. Something bad is always bound to be happening and seen.

This is a painting done by John William Waterhouse in 1874. It is a portrayal of the Greek gods, sleep, Hypnos, and death, Thanatos. The passage from the Epic of Gilgamesh that we read today reminded me of it. On page 507, Utnapishtim says, “The sleeping and the dead, how alike they are, they are like a painted death.” Waterhouse lost two younger brothers to tuberculosis shortly before he painted this sad piece. Something to think about!

What does the word HERO mean to you? Did Gilgamesh seem heroic to you? why, why not? Discuss among yourselves, by blogging and reblogging, why you would or would not classify Gilgamesh as a hero.

To me the word hero means somebody who is there and ready to take any type of challenge or chance they can get. Gilgamesh, seems not to be a hero at all. But although,Gilgamesh did not do anything to help someone else. Which is what being a hero means.
